There are many misconceptions around hypnotherapy due to popular media. Some people are afraid that they can be controlled, or may be unaware of what is happening. Others may be concerned about reliving traumatic events. But let me assure you that these couldn’t be further from the truth. It is a safe and gentle therapy, in most cases even quite enjoyable.
I practice ‘client driven’ therapy, which means that I will only treat what you are seeking help for, in a way that you are comfortable with. You may be aware of the entire session and everything I say, even interact! Hypnosis is not sleep, and can be compared to that nice cozy feeling one gets just before dropping off to sleep. In fact, everyone goes in and out of ‘natural trance states’ throughout the day. Daydreaming, exercising, when one is engrossed in something and the world falls away, or driving for instance; have you ever driven a familiar route and arrived at your destination not remembering the trip?
There is so much we do not know about the human mind. There are countless examples of surgeries performed without anesthesia, and seemingly remarkable cures attributed to this therapy.
Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective strategy to overcome any number of conditions and concerns, even in severe, long-standing cases.
